Dear Featured Guest,

We are so excited that you will be joining us at El Paso Comic Con 2025!  This year’s show promises to bring the best pop culture entertainment to El Paso for a truly epic weekend. We want to make sure that you have a great experience at the event. Use this letter for the essential details you need to know as a featured guest at El Paso Comic Con.

The car service for airport pick up and return is City Lights Limousine.  Their website is https://cityliteslimo.com/.  Their phone number is (915) 590-5944.  The driver will be waiting near the baggage claim area with a sign bearing your name.

You will be staying at the historic Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park. It is the ONLY Michelin Key Hotel in El Paso! Since its debut in the 1930s, The Plaza has commanded a striking position along the city’s skyline. It has welcomed A-listers like Conrad Hilton, Elizabeth Taylor, and other Hollywood elite and dignitaries. You’ll discover your stay at The Plaza will embody both its glamorous past as well as its modern revival. The Plaza’s website is https://www.plazahotelelpaso.com/

Experience El Paso’s culinary delights when you dine at Ámbar Restaurante inside the Plaza Hotel. El Paso’s top wood-fired Mexican restaurant reimagines centuries-old ingredients. Home to the largest agave spirit collection in North America. Sample the rarest tequilas and mezcals around its polished wood bar.

On the 17th floor of the Plaza Hotel is La Perla. Formerly the penthouse suite where Elizabeth Taylor briefly lived while married to Nicky Hilton. The rooftop bar is now the glittering crown jewel of The Plaza and the highest outdoor viewpoint in El Paso. Enjoy boundless panoramas across two countries and three cities, draped by coral sunsets that give way to stargazing.

Directly across the street from Hotel Paso del Norte is the world famous Lucchese Boot Company (pronounced Luke-Casey). They have made custom designed boots for many celebrities. Connected to Lucchese is a secret door through a bookshelf to get you to the speak-easy. The speak-easy offers some of the finest tequilas for you to sample.

If you’re looking for a pair of custom boots, make sure to ask about Rocketbuster Boots. The Plaza can arrange for a behind-the-scenes tour of Rocketbuster’s facilities. You can get a personalized boot design session in Plaza Pioneer Park’s private meeting space with Rocketbuster’s experts.

Walking distance from the hotel are some high-end dining options like Café Central, Anson 11, and Park Tavern. One of the best burgers in town is at Rock Star Burger. Great international food is available at Delight or Pot Au Pho. If you don’t want to walk you can ride on the historic El Paso Streetcar.

A good resource for Downtown El Paso attractions is the Downtown El Paso website.

The hotel is walking distance from the convention center (directly across the street). If you need a ride from the hotel let us know.  Keep in mind with traffic during the event it will take longer to ride than to walk.

The costume contest will be on Saturday evening after the Exhibit Hall closes.  El Paso cosplayers are very passionate about their craft and create some amazing cosplays.  If you’d like to attend the costume contest let us know. We will get you front row seats or backstage access.

The featured guests will be in Celebrity Row.  The photo op area is located very close to Celebrity Row. You can avoid having to navigate through the crowd to get to your photo op.  Celeb Photos is our contracted photo op company.

The Green Room is in the Westar Bank Room. This room is the only room on the second floor.  It has a balcony that overlooks the con floor if you want a view from up above.  There are private restrooms there as well. You don’t have to worry about awkward moments in a rest room crowded with fans.  The admin room is located next to the Green Room.  All financial matters or anything of a sensitive nature will be handled there. Only featured guests, their agents, and event staff are allowed in the Green Room. Food, drink, and snacks will be provided in the Green Room.

City Lights Limousine will be the service that returns you to the airport at the conclusion of the event.  We recommend one and a half hours before your departure for pick up.  Pick up can be from the convention center. Pick up will be from the hotel for those leaving Monday.  The El Paso Airport is not a large or busy airport.  Getting through security usually is rather quick.

Here’s some general information about the area.

El Paso is located at the intersection of three states (Texas, New Mexico, and Chihuahua) and two countries (the U.S. and Mexico).  The sun shines 302 days per year on average in El Paso.  For this reason, the city is nicknamed “The Sun City”.  There is a strong military presence in the area. There are 3 major military installations within an hour’s drive (Fort Bliss, Holloman AFB, and White Sands Missile Range).

A fiberglass sculpture of alligators by Luis Jiménez graces San Jacinto Plaza. This sculpture honors the city’s colorful past, when real alligators lived in the center of downtown. This historic park is across the street from the hotel. The park is now home to paths and bridges, gaming areas for ping-pong, chess, and washoes.

Southwest University Park is home to both the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League (https://www.milb.com/el-paso) and the El Paso Locomotive FC of the USL Championship League (https://www.eplocomotivefc.com/).  Southwest University Park is located next to the El Paso Convention Center.

The Kentucky Bar & Grill in Juarez is often regarded as the birthplace of Margarita. Celebrities like Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe are known to have hung out there. Opened back in 1912, the Kentucky Club wears its 96 years like a piece of cherished antique furniture. Experience the charm of yesteryear at this historic club featuring the best of margaritas and scrumptious delights. The Kentucky Club is a short trip (less than 2 miles) over the Mexican border. Bring your passport if you plan to visit Mexico.

If you want to do some gambling while here, Sunland Park is a quick 10-minute drive away.  Enjoy over 700 state-of-the-art slot machines, year-round simulcast wagering from tracks all over the world, incredible restaurants, and live entertainment.

University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) formerly known as Texas Western is just a few exits up I-10. The university was made famous by National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame coach Don Haskins.  He is best known for starting five African American players in the 1966 NCAA Championship game against Kentucky. This was the basis for the movie Glory Road.
